After years of helping out wherever the district needed an extra set of hands, Alex decided the best way to keep showing up for local students was to serve on the school board itself.
By day, Alex coordinates programs for a community nonprofit, balancing budgets and bringing people together to solve practical problems — the same skills a school board needs when it sets priorities, reviews spending, and listens to families. Alex believes the strongest schools are the ones where teachers feel supported, students feel safe, and parents never have to guess what is happening in their child's building.
